It all started with a Snore!

Rhett and Max met at the pound and quickly became inseparable. After long walks, Max would sit under Rhett's feet in the studio while Rhett narrated, content to stay warm and close by, quiet as a mouse. Then, suddenly, Max would snore LOUDLY, and Rhett would have to stop his narration. After several iterations of this back-and-forth—enough to interrupt the flow of recording—Rhett noticed something interesting. If he narrated a passage with feeling and without any errors, Max was perfectly quiet. But if Rhett made a mistake or sounded like the so-called "boring announcer" voice, Max would interrupt him by snoring! Rhett realized that Max was listening and letting him know what he liked and didn't like.
To this day, Rhett maintains that Max was the
"Best Director!" he has ever had in the booth.

Rhett Samuel Price
Rhett has been involved in audiobook production since 2011 as a narrator, engineer, editor, director, and project manager. Having worked on thousands of audiobook titles over the years, he understands every stage of the production process from manuscript intake through final delivery.
Prior to founding MaxDirect Audio, Rhett worked with both Buzzy's Recording and Deyan Audio, where he oversaw audiobook productions for major publishers, university presses, and independent authors. Starting as an editor at Deyan Audio, he eventually managed all aspects of production operations, including project management, casting, scheduling, narrator direction, client communication, and delivery.
Known not only for his narration, he is recognized for his directing skills, post-production work and strong project management skills. Rhett and the MaxDirect Audio production team stay focused to keeping projects on schedule while minimizing corrections and maintaining publisher standards for final delivery.
